the upcoming league fixture of these two undefeated giants of league 2 resulted in them both meeting in a pre-season friendly to size each other up.

the scoreline is a bit flattering for Athletico, as all they really did was take advantage of sloppy defending from time to time.

Forlan opened the scoring, before balde bizarrely volleyed past his own keeper although im sure forlan would rather claim the touch for himself, Forlan then added a second and an Athletico 3rd before a double from Aguero wrapped up the game for Athletico


a good game end to end, hopefully the league match is as eventful, although im sure celtic are hoping not as many, if any, goals go flying past boruc on thursday night.

athletico got revenge on sevilla by thumping 8 past them in 2 games, and athletico also managed to put 5 past a well shaped middlesborough team who were just unlucky with the offside trap and then had woodgate sent off in the 22nd minute for a last man foul which wasnt as bad as it looked,

they got themselves back to 3-2 but then crumbled in the dying minutes with huth also seeing red for a wreckless challenge in the box





and smeagul1 dont worry about it, im sure ull do better thursday night man.

a second friendly to give the teams one final size up to each other saw athletico madrid sweat for their win this time round.

a cracking strike from donati 10minutes in saw celtic take a shock lead and then they continued to pressure down the wings.
but on the 34th minute motta managed to squeeze a shot under boruc, although he then did have to tap it in from a few yards out just to make sure.
and then within seconds celtic were left in disbelief as a quick play down the wing saw aguero head backwards into the box for simao to smash home athletico's second goal of the match.

half time arrived and the teams came out all guns blaring.
and on 67minutes simao recieved a cutback from rodriguez and wrapped the game up for athletico


a much better performance by celtic lets hope it continues to improve and i definately think we'l have a match on our hands on thursday

This was a match that Athletico wanted to use to show the teams in division 1 what they were made off.
And boy, they didnt disappoint.

Straight from Kick-off they made sure they kept possession and with only 3minutes on the clock
Maxi Rodriguez broke down the wing, and sent a low cross into the box which was met by the diving header of Sergio Aguero. 1-0 and Barcelona had a lot of re-grouping to do.

And re-group is exactly what they did because within minute Leo Franco was having to scramble across his line to keep out a rasping effort from Eto'o.
But as every team knows, when you open up and attack you leave yourself vulnerable at the back.
And that is exactly what happened to Barcelona.

Some quick one-twos from defence saw a gap open up down the right hand wing and this time it was Simao that delivered the inch perfect ball high into the box which was met with yet another Athletico head, although this time it was that of Forlans. 2-0 Athletico and Barcelona looked to be in serious trouble.

Eto'o and Henry were both unlucky as a mix up in Athletico defence saw them both have efforts eventually hacked away be Pernia
Unfortunately, this proved fatal for Barcelona because the eventual attack ended up in a mix up in their own defence for Motta to pick up the loose ball and smash it home to make it 3-0 Athletico.

Just before half time Victor Valdes kept the scoreling looking semi-respectable as Aguero had two one-on-ones saved.


second half was much the same as the first with barcelona unable to take advantage of their attacking positioning and after 60minutes up popped forlan to make it 4-0 and all but seal the victory for Athletico.

Henry went close late on but the scoreline remained 4-0 and surely this scoreline has made some of the league 1 teams alert to the threat which could be upon them in the latter stages of the cup and indeed the league next season if their current form continues.

the threat that league 1 teams can avoid by getting themselves relegated .. hehe .. kidding dude .. looking fwd to hvg u in league 1 ..

both games end to end celtic unlucky with chances, forlan and aguero linking well to cause the athletico manager a selection problem ahead of the big league match on thursday night.

BARCELONA 0-2 SPURS

i just want to say that i am anticipating the chance to play in league one soon where money and fame comes in lool , ofcourse this will be after promoting from league 2 and competing for the cup title really my game with gromero next sunday will be watched by over than 20,000 people supporting borough against barca ... recently had a friendly with lennie it was tough i scored first with mido then he tied and managed to take the win at the end regrdless of some laggy connection it was a good game overall . final score middlesbr ( 1) - atletico ( 2 ) .

greeny was in excellent form, how the hell i saved 1 particular shot is any 1's guess.

2 goals inside last 10 mins gutted really, gg jasonx22 well played mate

got really laggy in 2nd half for about a minute or so (very nearly quit game because of) but came back to life again...
