Arsenal 1 - 0 AC Milan

A dramatic opening game for both the teams to put it mildly which saw solid performances from both the goal keepers, especially Lehmann. Action was gripping right from the start. A deft through pass to Van Persie resulted in a very early goal for Arsenal. Both teams continued attacking with a lot of flair only to be denied by a combination of luck and timely defense on both sides of the pitch. The game was going end to end, when a bad tackle in Arsenal box resulted in a penalty being awarded to Milan. But Lehmann who had not put a foot wrong since the match started, guessed right and brought off a peach of a save. Kaka and co. continued attacking only to be denied by some stoic defence. At the other end, Van Persie and Eduardo were causing considerable strife to the Milan defense, but were just not able to extend the lead.

Arsenal hung on for the win and Milan who played their hearts out were very unlucky to have lost out. Lehmann was rewarded for his heroic efforts and took home the Man of the match award. All in all a great game to begin the season for both teams.
