Both teams started well..but Arsenal got a couple of lucky goals and rode the momentum..


And ofcourse .. behind the scenes .. Athletico Madrid team manager took pity on Arsene wenger's team and asked his boys to lay it off a lil .. ..

stats didn't really reflect the game however.
even in possession
two well taken goals by Diego Forlan and Robin Van Persie
shame these teams aren't in the same league, would have been interesting to see them battle it out.

yeah .. not boring at all .. the sad thing however was that the goalkeeper on both ends were hardly called into action.. a very tight game defensively ..

another well played game
madrid had bulk of possession and didnt do much and had to come from behind
juventus had the bulk of goal action just failed to capitalize on it.

was a very good game. split right down the middle as u said .. and it really is quite unfortunate that the teams are not in the same league .. may be we will meet in the cup competition ..

UNBELIEVABLE
thats the only way to describe this match
Roma take the lead in the 74th minute through an own goal by Pablo.
Athletico don't give up hope and keep pressing the opposition
and come close with Aguero just heading over from 3yds out.

And then the incredible happens...

Roma are caught napping at the back and Simao breaks through the defence and plays a teasing ball across the back.
but much to his displeasure Mexes intercepts the pass...
however, the displeasure soon turns to ecstasy as Mexes can only look helplessly as the ball dips over his own keeper and into the back of his own net

sensational match. great defending by both teams.
just an incredible scenario in which the two goals came about.

Juventus 1 - 3 Athletico Madrid

No my fellow leaguers.
Your eye's are not decieving you.
Athletico finally picked up their first pre-season victory at the expense of Juventus

it was not all plain sailing however.
juventus took the lead in the 9th minute through trezeguet and i must admit, i did think it was going to be the same old story again.
but finally something clicked.

in the 45th minute, right on the stroke on halftime Aguero popped up with the equaliser.
then in the second half, a badly clearer corner fell straight into the path of Motta who let fly and the ball soared into the net from 25yds out.

some pressure did ensue from juventus but the athletico defence held strong
and then deep into injury time the result was put beyond doubt when Aquero popped up to hit home his second goal of the game
a good all round performance from both teams.

Hitting form at the right time eh???

haha yeh only took me 8games
