Stopping the attack down the wings

I would never claim to be a master of strategies and tactics .. but this is my two cents on how we could stop the attack down the wings .. i hv been reasonably successful in defending down the wings and stopping the cross ..

1. Anticipate the attack down the wings: Always be aware of the possibility that ur opponent could go down the wings .. the thing to do here is that never bring your LB or RB out of the line .. I very rarely use my LB or RB when I am not defending against their wingers .. This way u wud not be leaving acres of free space down the wings if and when your opponent goes there..

2. Never tackle early: So the ball has been passed to the winger .. and he is moving down the wings .. ur LB or RB is in position .. dont run straight at the winger .. the chances are that the winger will beat u .. so run backwards towards the corner flag.. that way u can catch up with the winger (hopefully the winger u hv to deal with is not ronaldo or messi ) and stay with him .. And even when u hv caught up .. dont tackle early .. wait for them to start crossing and then tackle .. because when u tend to tackle or press .. u lose ur speed and if ur tackle is unsuccessful the winger gets a substantial lead on u .. Just staying with the winger can put real pressure on him and end up in an inaccurate pass / cross or in the worst case a corner..

3. Use the Jostle(L2): If after all that u hv done, the winger still crosses, and u hopefully hv a defender staying with the opponent's striker in box.. dont be afraid to jostle .. its very hard to get a header on target if a defender is jostling u .. but be warned .. dont press the L2 button too long .. unless ur fond of defending penalties

And after all this he still heads in that goal .. well .. take it on the chin and continue attacking .. ..
